I can now post photos from flickr directly to my blog!
To setup it up I went to the You tab on flickr and selected Your Account. From there I went to the Extending Flickr subtab, and then clicked on the edit link next to the Your Blogs heading. From the Add a weblog page, I clicked on the large Add a blog link, which brought up a dropdown box of various blogging services and platforms. I of course selected WordPress. You will then see 3 fields. For the API Endpoint I just used my blog’s address, but added the /xmlrpx.php to the end like it shows in the example ( http://your.blog.address/xmlrpc.php). My endpoint was http://icitizen03.wordpress.com/xmlrpc.php. For the username/password I just used my credentials that I use to login to my wordpress.com blog.
Now that it is all setup, all I have to do to add a photo, is do the following:
- Find a photo on flickr that I would like to share.
Take for example this fantastic picture of the Tesla Electric Sportscar that can go 0-60 in under 4s and doesn’t require gasoline: http://flickr.com/photos/kristian20/400019662/ - Click on the Blog this link above the picture.
- Select “WordPress.com Blog” (this is what I labeled my blog when I set it up)
- Add content for Your Title and Your Post
- Click the Post Entry button
- Enjoy your new post on your blog
I hope that you learned something new today.
